Adilson Marques is an assistant professor at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Human Kinetics. He holds a bachelor and master degrees in physical education, a master in public health and a PhD in sciences of education, related with physical education and health-related school promotion. He was a physical education teacher for 9 years, in public schools, and coach in scholar sport programs. His main research interest is the study of health promotion, correlates of physical activity, fitness and physical education. He has published several international peer-reviewed original articles and has been an investigator in several research projects. He is a reviewer for several scientific journals in the field of sport science and health promotion. For 6 years he was member of the board of the Portuguese Society of Physical Education, and recently was appointed as assistant director for the National Physical Activity Promotion Program at the Portuguese Ministry of Health.
